Spotlight on women’s safety

About this webinar

Are you keen to make your local streets and public spaces safer and more welcoming for women and girls? Join Eve Holt, Strategic Director and Kelly Rodgers, Strategic Lead for Healthy Active Places both with GM Moving, as they talk through the Right to the Streets work in Greater Manchester.

They will discuss the approach they have taken in North Trafford over the last year, as they've worked with local communities and cross-sector partners to make streets and public spaces safe, joyful, and welcoming places where everyone is invited to be active.

They will cover a range of interventions including participatory walkshops and place audits, creative art installations, community-led mapping, walking, wheeling and cycling initiatives, active bystander training and feminist urban design.

Their work includes running workshops with Open Data Manchester to map the area with a focus on feelings and experiences to explore what is needed to make streets more inclusive and welcoming. They’ll also discuss their partnership working with Publica - an urban design and public realm practice, bringing research and expertise on how the physical environment informs perceptions of safety and belonging.
