About this webinar
Join Sarah Javaid MBE, Founder and CEO of Cycle Sisters and Shameem Dukandar, Group Coordinator and Ride Leader in the Cycle Sisters Newham group, as they share their learnings about how to meaningfully engage with under-represented communities, challenging preconceived ideas about groups being ‘hard to reach’.
The session will provide an opportunity to reflect on what role attendees can play in collectively addressing inequalities and ensuring that inclusion and diversity are centralised in active travel planning and spending.
Cycle Sisters has been successfully supporting Muslim women and girls to cycle for the past seven and a half years.
Sarah Javaid MBE is the founder and CEO of Cycle Sisters, an award-winning cycling charity for Muslim women operating across London. Sarah is also a National Standards Instructor and British Cycling Ride Leadership Tutor and has supported hundreds of women to start cycling through cycle lessons and led rides. Shameem Dukandar is a volunteer Group Coordinator and Ride Leader for the Cycle Sisters Newham group and has recently trained as a National Standards Instructor.
