About this webinar
Join Leeds City Council as they share insights from their three-year Active Travel Social Prescribing pilot, which focuses on creating opportunities for active travel and improving health outcomes in three communities experiencing health inequalities and significant disadvantage.
The team will discuss how they co-produced and delivered community activities to increase uptake of local active travel initiatives and how they engaged with health (and other key partners) to embed referral pathways into the pilot.
This pilot adopted a place-based approach, creating an Active Travel Masterplan and Complementary Measures documents to support changes in the local environment. These aim to reduce barriers to walking, wheeling, and cycling, while also fostering community connections and addressing neighbourhood concerns such as safety, cleanliness, and crime.
Leeds City Council is one of 11 authorities delivering active travel social prescribing pilot programmes in England. The pilots trial ways in which the health sector can prescribe walking, wheeling and cycling for health, well-being, and to promote active travel for everyday journeys.
