What is the National Cycle Network?

The National Cycle Network (also abbreviated to NCN) is a UK-wide network of signed cycling, walking and wheeling routes, totalling over 12,000 miles.

In 2020, 4.9 million people used the NCN to make over 750 million journeys by bike, on foot, by wheelchair/mobility scooter and on horseback.

The development, maintenance and promotion of the Network is led by the charity Sustrans. Most of network is hosted on local authority and third sector land.
